When “Ask ChatGPT” Becomes “Stranded at the Airport”

Lead a yoga retreat

There’s been 𝘢 𝘭𝘰𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘣𝘶𝘻𝘻 lately about using ChatGPT to plan trips, but a recent article (and viral reel) reminded me why I’ll always believe in the value of a human touch when it comes to travel planning.⁣

⁣Here’s what happened…⁣

⁣A Spanish couple asked ChatGPT if they needed special documents to visit Puerto Rico. The chatbot said no… so they packed their bags, showed up at the airport, and were denied boarding, ending in tears and a flight back home.⁣

⁣Another traveler asked for hotel recommendations in Montréal, only to land and discover every “hotel” on the list was actually two hours away- in Québec City.⁣

⁣According to a recent Cornell University study, AI chatbots give incorrect or unusable travel plans 𝟵𝟬% 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲. That includes:⁣

✖️ “AI hallucinations” (like being told to take a day trip from New York City to the Great Barrier Reef 🤦‍♀️)⁣

🏛️ Outdated info (directing people to museums that have been closed for years)⁣

🚗 Technically correct but unrealistic itineraries (like 24-hour drives with no stops or zero time for airport security)⁣

⁣AI is wonderful for brainstorming, but when it comes to actual logistics, local laws, and up-to-date details, it’s just not ready to replace a real travel professional.⁣

𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗥𝗲𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝘀 & 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗹⁣

When you’re planning something as meaningful as a 𝗿𝗲𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁 or a 𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗲-𝗶𝗻-𝗮-𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗷𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘆, you don’t just need “a plan.” You need the right 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗶𝘁𝘀, 𝗹𝗼𝗴𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘀, 𝘃𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘃𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗼𝗿𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗵𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 to ensure everything flows- from your airport transfer to your closing circle.⁣

⁣𝗧𝗵𝗮𝘁’𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗜 𝗱𝗼 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗺𝘆 𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀:⁣

✔️ Verify every route, visa, and connection⁣

✔️ Work directly with trusted local partners⁣

✔️ Make sure experiences are culturally respectful, safe, and unforgettable⁣

⁣No surprises. No “Great Barrier Reef day trips” from Manhattan.⁣

⁣𝗔 𝗛𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝗧𝗼𝘂𝗰𝗵 𝗚𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝗮 𝗟𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗪𝗮𝘆⁣

As a yoga teacher for over 16 years and a retreat planner, group travel specialist, and travel advisor for over a decade, I’ve seen firsthand how meaningful travel can be when it’s designed intentionally- with care, context, and connection.⁣

🌿⁣If you’re dreaming up your next 𝗿𝗲𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁, 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗽 𝗷𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘆, 𝗼𝗿 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝗱𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲, I’d love to help you plan it seamlessly, 𝘴𝘰 𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘥𝘰 𝘪𝘴 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘸 𝘶𝘱, 𝘦𝘹𝘩𝘢𝘭𝘦, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘦𝘹𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘪𝘵 𝘧𝘶𝘭𝘭𝘺.
